What is a Domestic Energy Performance Certificate?
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is given out after an energy performance test, and rates a building’s energy efficiency on a scale: A (highly efficient) to G (highly inefficient). It also shows a property’s potential rating if certain efficiency improvements were to be made. EPCs are valid for 10 years, unless changes are made to your property’s thermal elements. If changes have been made, you’ll need an updated EPC.
Why do I need an Energy Performance Certificate?
If you have an energy performance test carried out, we can identify where energy efficiency improvements and cost savings can be made with changes to your property. After all, a poor energy efficiency will cost you a lot of money in the long term. For both landlords and homeowners, it is legally required to provide an EPC to buyers or tenants if a property is up for sale or rent, otherwise you may face being fined.
